Weiyuan Fort and the Sea Battle Museum: plan them as one coastal block
Begin at the Sea Battle Museum by Humen Bridge, then follow the local pedestrian signs to Weiyuan Fort’s coastal batteries. This is the Humen coast visit; the Lin Zexu Memorial Hall and destruction-of-opium pools are elsewhere in Humen town.

Why visit Weiyuan Fort and Sea Battle Museum
The fort's position makes sense only beside the shipping channel and headland. Standing there turns military history into a geographical problem rather than a list of dates.
The Sea Battle Museum prevents the ruins from carrying more explanation than they can. Together, exhibition and terrain are stronger than either site alone.

How to plan the visit
- 01
Book the Sea Battle Museum branch and set your drop-off there. Read the estuary displays before walking outside to the fort.
- 02
Use the signed pedestrian approach between the museum grounds and Weiyuan Fort, returning the same way. Allow 20–30 minutes each way as a walking allowance, longer for heat, security or diversions; the open access points need checking at the museum.
- 03
Arrange collection back at the museum’s permitted pickup area. Ask the museum through its official visitor-service channel about coastal maintenance and passport reservation before travelling.
What fits on the same day

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Should I visit the museum or fort first?
For most first-time visitors, the museum first gives the chronology and map needed to read the fort. Weather can reverse the order when the outdoor window is short.
Are Weiyuan Fort and the Sea Battle Museum free?
The current official cluster notice states that the managed sites are free. Reservation and identity procedures can still be required.
Can children or older travellers manage the fort?
The museum is the easier part. The fort adds exposed walking and uneven surfaces, so shorten or skip that portion when heat, mobility or weather makes it uncomfortable.
