A practical visit order and pace—not a full-day itinerary.

Use 马坝人遗址公园 on Shiyan Road as the car destination, rather than a general Maba town address. From a railway station, a licensed taxi to the park entrance avoids an unverified chain of local buses. Agree where to meet for the return before entering.

Begin with the Maba Man Museum, also called Qujiang District Museum, for the fossil and Shixia-culture displays. Continue to the signed Shizi Rock and Shixia site areas on paths open that day, then return through the park. A cave mouth or excavation area may be inaccessible even while the park is open.

The museum directory lists 09:00–17:00 with Monday closure; this is separate from the park’s longer outdoor hours. Check museum access on 0751-6666561 if the indoor exhibits are the reason for your trip. Allow around 1.5–2 hours for museum and a short park walk, as an editorial estimate.
