Separate visitor zone · Mount Danxia

Yangyuan visitor zone

You can see Yangyuan Stone on a short viewpoint walk or take a much harder rock-stair circuit. Allow about 0.5–1 hour for the relaxed route or 2–3 hours for the longer climb, and choose before you pass the entrance.

Start with location, transport, tickets and hours—then decide if it fits your plan.

About this place

The pillar is one of Mount Danxia's most recognisable landforms. This visitor zone has its own entrance, so confirm that your transfer is taking you to Yangyuan rather than a different Danxia trail area.

Official guidance estimates roughly 0.5–1 hour for the relaxed viewpoint route and 2–3 hours for the challenging circuit.

Two commitments

Decide before the climb starts

The official short route returns after the main viewpoints. The longer route continues into exposed rock stairs; it is a different activity, not simply more of the same.

05 · Visit tips

How a visit usually unfolds

A practical visit order and pace—not a full-day itinerary.

  1. 01

Enter the Yangyuan area using scenic bus B from the outer-gate network. For a shorter visit, follow signs to the Yangyuan viewpoint and Baiyang Terrace, then return to the same entrance. Our 0.5–1 hour allowance covers this viewing walk, not the upper cliffs.

  2. 02

Cloud Cliff Walkway, Jiadun Pavilion, Ximei Village and Jiujitian Ladder form the demanding option on the official route. Allow roughly 2–3 hours as a planning estimate, and turn back before the steep section if anyone is uncomfortable with heights or wet steps.

  3. 03

For a train home, choose the station before hiking. The operator lists a last scenic-area bus at 16:15 to high-speed Shaoguan Station, versus 19:10 to Shaoguan East. These are published service times, not guaranteed travel-day departures; confirm the stop and last bus at the outer gate that morning.

Practical notes

  • The steep circuit is exposed and not a casual photo detour.
  • Crowd flow and wet rock can change the practical pace.

Nearby

  • Duan Shi village and the water-Danxia pier are in the same wider zone.
  • A Changlao Peak route is an alternative full hiking focus, not an automatic add-on.
