Qujiang and Danxia in two days

Two days in Shaoguan: Qujiang culture, then a full Danxia day

Day one keeps Nanhua Temple and Maba Man Site together, then changes base near Mount Danxia. Day two uses the daylight saved by that move.

Timings include walking, transfers, meals and at least 25% buffer.

This follows a route order also used in current Shaoguan government travel guidance: Qujiang culture before transferring north for a Danxia stay.

It assumes luggage can remain with a booked vehicle or be collected from the first base before the transfer. No bag is left at an informal roadside point.

01

Day 1 · Qujiang history and base change

Base
Arrive via Shaoguan / Qujiang; sleep near Mount Danxia
Arrival
Begin Nanhua Temple around 09:00
Return

    01

    Nanhua Temple

From high-speed Shaoguan station, the government guide places bus 23 about 50 metres left of the exit; Shaoguan East has the temple service at its south square. For this two-site day with luggage, a prebooked car is simpler. Walk the temple halls in order and allow 1.5–2 hours.

    02

    Qujiang lunch

Keep at least one hour for a sit-down meal. Hakka stuffed tofu is a useful local choice; confirm the restaurant and hours instead of relying on a ranking.

  3. 12:45

    03

    Maba Man Site

Use the Shiyan Road entrance to Maba Man Site. Begin at the museum, then follow the open paths towards Shizi Rock and the Shixia area. The museum normally closes Mondays; if closed, keep to the outdoor paths and leave earlier for Danxia.

    04

    Collect luggage and transfer north

Use a confirmed road transfer to the selected Danxia-area stay. The block includes traffic, a comfort stop, navigation and check-in.

  5. 17:30

    05

Check in, early dinner and route check

Eat near the base, buy water and confirm the next morning’s gate, trail and weather before sleeping.

02

Day 2 · Full Mount Danxia day

Base
Mount Danxia scenic-area stay
Arrival
Start the selected route around 08:30
Return
Leave in time for the confirmed station bus, or stay another night / use a booked car
Walking
Three to five hours of trail work plus internal transfers

    01

    Breakfast and luggage decision

If checking out, store luggage with the hotel or keep it secured in the booked vehicle before entering the park.

  2. 08:30

    02

    Selected Danxia route

Take scenic bus A from the outer gate to the cable car for the Changlao route via Tuo Stone, Baozhu Peak and Dragon King Spring. Confirm the downhill path with staff; allow 3–4 hours only as the operator’s route estimate.

  3. 12:45

    03

    Lunch and recovery

Allow at least 75 minutes to sit down for lunch and rest. Check where you can eat before starting the hike; trail snacks alone may not be enough.

  4. 14:30

    04

    Short afternoon or early exit

Choose one low-effort interpretation stop or leave early. A same-day train requires the scenic transfer, station navigation and at least 60 minutes of rail buffer.

  5. 15:00

    05

Return to luggage and onward transport

Collect bags by mid-afternoon if using the published 16:15 last bus to high-speed Shaoguan station. Check the exact boarding point and queue early. Staying another night or booking a car is the way to retain a later afternoon.

Travel-day checks

Recheck before travel

  • Reversing the order after a late arrival sacrifices the daylight needed for Danxia.
  • Current temple halls, museum galleries and scenic trails all require live checks.
  • If no reliable luggage transfer exists, keep one base in central Shaoguan and shorten day two.
  • The park currently publishes its last return bus to high-speed Shaoguan station at 16:15, versus 19:10 to Shaoguan East. These are different stations and services. Confirm the day’s departure point and time before hiking, and reach the railway station at least an hour before your booked train.
