Han Wen Gong Temple

Han Wen Gong Temple, a memorial to Han Yu, faces the Han River from the hillside on the east bank. Choose it for the memorial halls and inscriptions, allowing time for steps and a separate return across the river; it is not a flat continuation of Paifang Street.

Start with location, transport, tickets and hours—then decide if it fits your plan.

About this place

The site is included among Chaozhou’s nationally protected cultural landmarks in the historic-city plan.

Its hillside setting changes the visual relationship with the old city: visitors look back across the Han River rather than remaining inside the street grid.

Cross the river for the hillside memorial

Allow a separate east-bank visit for the memorial halls and hillside steps, then return across the river by a route you have checked.

05 · Visit tips

How a visit usually unfolds

A practical visit order and pace—not a full-day itinerary.

  1. 01

Use 韩文公祠 on Dongxing North Road as the road destination. From the west-bank old city, either arrange a licensed taxi or cross Guangji Bridge only while the pontoon and visitor route are open; keep a road return available if the bridge closes.

  2. 02

Follow the entrance steps to the memorial halls and inscription corridors, then continue towards Shilang Pavilion only on open visitor paths. Return down the same signed route; wet steps and humid weather can make this tiring even though the distance is short.

  3. 03

Allow around 1–1.5 hours on site, plus the river crossing, as our estimate. Current platform listings show Monday closure and last admission at 17:00, but we have not obtained a new official regular-hours notice; confirm directly on 0768-2523581 before a dedicated visit, especially on holidays.

Practical notes

  • Steps may be slippery after rain.
  • Do not add this after a full old-city day if the group is already tired.

Nearby

  • Guangji Bridge lies directly across the Han River.
  • The east bank is a separate transport decision from Paifang Street.
