Why visit Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall
The hall was designed by architect Lü Yanzhi and completed in 1931 with funds raised by Guangzhou residents and overseas Chinese. Its ceremonial form is easy to read from the lawn, while the wide interior span shows how traditional visual language was combined with modern structural engineering.
The site also belongs to Guangzhou's political geography. It stands on the former presidential-palace grounds used when Sun Yat-sen led the Constitutional Protection movement, close to Yuexiu Park and the city's long north-south axis.

Start from the lawn and walk far enough back to see the octagonal roof and four projecting porches as one composition.

The blue glazed-tile roof and red columns make the building immediately recognisable. The stronger detail is the way the roof mass steps down through the porches, keeping a hall of this size from feeling like a sealed block.
Inside, the auditorium was built for large gatherings and still serves that purpose. If seats or stage equipment are being prepared, treat them as part of the building's present life rather than an interruption to a museum visit.

The easiest way to place it in a Guangzhou day
The memorial hall works best as the opening or closing stop of a Yuexiu day. Pairing it with Yuexiu Park keeps the geography simple. Pairing it with the Nanyue King Museum creates a much longer historical timeline, though it also asks for more museum energy.
It is less useful to cross the city only for this one building. If your day is centred on Liwan or the Canton Tower riverfront, save the memorial hall for the day when you are already in Yuexiu.
