Xiguan and Liwan
Begin with one architectural or neighbourhood anchor. Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, Enning Road, Lychee Bay, the Cantonese Opera Art Museum and Shamian belong to the same western chapter, though they will not all fit into a short visit.

See what each place is good for, how long it actually needs and which station gets you closest. Filter the list, then use the map to keep the day in one part of Guangzhou.
The map helps you choose an area. Opening hours, queues and the trip from your hotel still need a separate check.

Make the geography do some work
These four groups show which places sit on the same side of the city. They are not fixed itineraries; check current opening and reservation arrangements before planning the day.
Begin with one architectural or neighbourhood anchor. Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, Enning Road, Lychee Bay, the Cantonese Opera Art Museum and Shamian belong to the same western chapter, though they will not all fit into a short visit.
Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Yuexiu Park, the Nanyue King tomb site and Beijing Road sit around the historic centre. Pick two or three after checking museum days and the entrance you plan to use.
Guangdong Museum, Huacheng Square and Canton Tower make most sense from late afternoon into evening. Decide whether you want a paid tower visit or a free riverfront view before buying anything.
Bai'etan Art Center, Baiyun Mountain, Haizhu Wetland and Chimelong Safari Park need more time, more weather awareness or more advance checking than the central-city stops.
Before planning the day
Use the first-visit filter as a shortlist, then choose by area. Chen Clan Ancestral Hall or Beijing Road gives you an old-city anchor; Canton Tower or Guangdong Museum shifts the day toward the Pearl River and new central axis. The six suggestions are not meant to fit into one day.
Two or three central attractions can work when they sit in the same district and their opening arrangements line up. Baiyun Mountain, Haizhu Wetland and Chimelong Safari Park need a half or full day of their own.

Use the map to understand distance and keep stops in one part of the city. A workable itinerary also needs current opening hours, reservation rules, the journey from your hotel and enough time for meals, queues and wrong turns.
