Yuexiu Park Guangzhou visitor guide
Yuexiu Park is a broad city landscape, not a single monument. Low hills, lakes, the Five Goats sculpture, old city walls and Zhenhai Tower sit on different levels, so the entrance you choose changes the whole walk.

01
Why visit Yuexiu Park
Yuexiu Hill sits at the northern end of Guangzhou's traditional city axis. Surviving Ming walls, Zhenhai Tower and later memorial structures let several periods of urban history occupy the same park.
The park also remains ordinary civic space. Morning exercise, shaded paths and lakes matter as much to its present character as the monuments do, which keeps the visit from feeling like an outdoor museum.
02
How to shape the visit
- 01
Choose two or three places before entering. For a first visit, use the Five Goats, Zhenhai Tower and the old wall instead of circling the whole park.
- 02
Use the park map to avoid dropping to lake level and climbing back without a reason.
- 03
Exit toward Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall or the Nanyue King Museum according to where your next stop lies.

A practical first route through Yuexiu Park
Start with the landmark you care about most, then connect nearby points at a similar elevation. The Five Goats sculpture and the city-wall area explain Guangzhou's civic symbols and older geography without requiring a full circuit of every lake.
If Zhenhai Tower is open and you still have museum energy, add it before descending. Otherwise, keep the visit outdoors and use the saved time for the Nanyue King Museum or memorial hall outside the park.
