How to plan the visit

Navigate to 江门古劳水乡游客中心 in Heshan, rather than a general Gulao village address. From Jiangmen railway station, arrange a separate road transfer and a return pickup; the water town is not in the central Pengjiang walking area.

Ask the visitor centre which ticket covers the Lingnan-style town streets, boat and activities you actually want. A 2025 government report records paid admission from 15 April 2025, so older descriptions calling the whole attraction free are unreliable; its old prices and weekly hours are not a current quotation.

For the boat-led visit, begin at the visitor-centre pier for 横海泛舟, confirm the route and return pier, then walk the open town streets towards the Wing Chun hall. Performance times are separate and not guaranteed. We suggest roughly half a day including waiting and a meal, with the return car booked before entering.

Do I need a ticket for Gulao Water Town?
The OCT Gulao visitor zone charges admission. Public village spaces outside it are different; confirm the entry ticket, boat rides and activities you want with the operator before visiting.
How much time should I allow?
Allow three to five hours onsite, plus the full connection from your hotel. Families choosing several paid activities may need longer.
Can I add Gulao to central Jiangmen in one day?
It is possible with a direct car and a short water-town visit, but public-transport travellers should treat it as a separate half or full day.
