Cuiheng · a separate heritage day

Sun Yat-sen Hometown and Cuiheng Village

Come for the whole Cuiheng setting, not one famous facade. The exhibitions explain Sun Yat-sen's life and the wider Xiangshan world; the former residence and village streets then return that history to a real place.

01

Why visit Sun Yat-sen Hometown

Zhongshan is one of the few Guangdong cities whose modern identity is inseparable from one historical figure. The useful part of this visit is not hero worship, but seeing how a village in old Xiangshan connected to overseas movement, reform and revolution.

The visitor area contains several exhibition zones and Cuiheng Village itself. Treating the former residence as a separate ten-minute attraction strips away the context that makes the journey from Shiqi worthwhile.

02

How to shape the visit

  1. 01

Begin with the main museum displays while attention and indoor comfort are highest.

  2. 02

Move to the former residence after the exhibition has supplied names, dates and family context.

  3. 03

Finish through Cuiheng Village and the open-air sections; shorten this part in heavy rain or heat.

  4. 04

Return to central Zhongshan without adding another distant attraction on the same afternoon.

What fits on the same day

  1. 01

    Sun Yat-sen Hometown

  2. 02

Keep the rest of the day in the Cuiheng/Nanlang area rather than returning to Shiqi for a tightly timed museum.

  3. 03

If this is day two, use day one for Zhongshan Museum, Sunwen West Road and Qijiang Park.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the Former Residence separate from Sun Yat-sen Hometown?

The former residence is one core part of the wider visitor area, which also includes museum displays and Cuiheng Village.

Do I need a reservation?

The official notice checked on 8 August 2026 says visitors enter without a reservation after security. Recheck because this policy can change.

Can I combine it with central Zhongshan in half a day?

It is possible only with a very selective visit and reliable transport, but a first visit is better as a separate Cuiheng block.
