A lake day, then a mountain day

Zhaoqing in one, two or three days

Use day one for Star Lake and old Duanzhou, day two for Dinghu Mountain, and only add a county extension on day three when transport is genuinely settled.

Timings are planning estimates including breaks and transfers; adjust for weather, access and your actual journey.

Zhaoqing's central city is unusually easy to understand on foot, but the prefecture is much larger than Duanzhou. The practical mistake is to confuse a compact lake city with short transfers to every mountain and county.

With one day, stay in Duanzhou. With two, add the Qingyun Temple–Feishui Pool walk at Dinghushan. A third day can remain in town; Guangning and Deqing are alternatives only after a complete return journey is arranged.

Best for nature and bamboo culture when road transport and current operation are confirmed.

  2. Or

    Deqing and the Longmu tradition

Best for living heritage and temple architecture; festival periods need extra crowd planning.

  3. Or

    Stay in Duanzhou

Visit Yuejiang Tower and take a short Xijiang walk. Add Mei’an only after confirming that it is receiving visitors.

Weather and closures

Recheck before travel

  • Severe rain can temporarily close Seven Star Crags, Dinghu Mountain or wetland areas. Recheck the official notice.
  • A combined Seven Star Crags and Dinghu Mountain ticket does not make both sites a realistic single-day route.
  • County extensions depend on road transport and should never be treated as a casual add-on.
