Zhuhai in one to three days

One day for the museum and Xianglu Bay, a second afternoon in Beishan, and a third full day for either Hengqin or Guishan Island.

Timings include walking, transfers, waiting, wayfinding, meals and at least 25% buffer.

Spend the first day around the museum and Xianglu Bay, then give Beishan a separate afternoon and evening. With a third full day, choose Hengqin or one island; the ferry trip is not an extra stop after the mainland visits.

A Jida or old-Xiangzhou hotel works for the first two days. Keep your bags there and use taxis or city transport between neighbourhoods, with a walk along one coastal section rather than the whole Lovers’ Road.

Day 1 · Museum and Xianglu Bay

Base
Jida or old Xiangzhou; keep the same hotel
Arrival
Arrive the previous evening; leave bags at the hotel and take a taxi to 88 Haihong Road for 09:30.
Departure
Take a taxi back from the Fisher Girl area after dinner. Do not add a ferry or an onward train tonight.

    Zhuhai Museum

At 88 Haihong Road, allow 1.5–2 hours for the city-history galleries. The museum lists Tuesday–Sunday 09:00–17:00, last admission 16:30, with Monday closure except public holidays. Move this visit to day two if Monday applies.

  2. 12:00

    02

    Lunch, then an indoor break

Eat near the museum or return to the hotel. Leave the early afternoon free for lunch and rest rather than walking the seafront at its hottest.

  3. 16:00

    03

City Balcony → Xianglu Bay → Fisher Girl

Take a taxi to City Balcony, then walk the public promenade along Xianglu Bay toward the Fisher Girl. Allow 60–90 minutes for roughly 1.5–2 km with photo and rest stops. Stay on the promenade rather than the beach if the sand is closed or wet.

Includes about 30 minutes of transfer time
  4. 18:00

    04

Dinner near the end of the walk

Choose dinner in Jida or old Xiangzhou using the food guide, then return to the hotel. Solo travellers can order one cooked dish with rice; a larger group can share fish and vegetables. Check the price and portion before ordering seafood.

Day 2 · Beishan lanes and dinner

Base
Same Jida or Xiangzhou hotel
Arrival
After lunch, take a taxi to Beishan Dayuan in Nanping. Allow 45–60 minutes from Jida, including waiting and traffic.
Departure
Arrange an accessible street pickup near Beishan Dayuan after dinner; allow another 45–60 minutes back to Jida.
Fitness
A short village walk, with indoor breaks; individual halls may be closed.

Beishan Dayuan and Yang family ancestral hall

Start at Beishan Dayuan, then visit the Yang family ancestral hall when open. Allow 45–60 minutes to look at the buildings and nearby lanes. Read any entry notice before entering; this is a living village with homes alongside visitor venues.

  2. 15:30

    02

    Yang Pao-an former residence area

Continue through the nearby lanes toward the Yang Pao-an former residence. If the interior is closed, see the exterior and return toward Dayuan; there is no need to wait for an unconfirmed opening. Allow about 45 minutes for the lanes.

  3. 16:30

    03

    A seated break before dinner

Choose a cafe or tea shop around Dayuan and stay out of the residential doorways. If the lanes are busy or rain starts, make this the end of the walk.

  4. 18:00

    04

Dinner in Nanping, then back to the hotel

Eat around Beishan or Nanping, check the current menu and portions, then meet the car at the agreed street pickup. Do not add Gongbei or Hengqin after dinner.

03

Day 3 · Choose ONE: Hengqin or Guishan Island

Base
Same mainland hotel; leave large bags there
Arrival
These are alternatives, not consecutive stops. A needs a car booking; B needs confirmed outward and return ferries.
Departure
Return to the same hotel. Leave the evening free of flights, border crossings and tight train connections in case traffic or ferries are delayed.
Fitness
A uses wetland paths or an optional park shuttle; B includes ferry motion, exposed waterfront and some slopes.

Hengqin: Mangzhou Wetland Park and back

Leave Jida around 08:00 with a prearranged car and allow 60–90 minutes to the park on Qinhai North Road. Spend the morning on the open boardwalks, returning to the same entrance, or use the separately priced park shuttle: the operator lists an eight-stop, approximately 3.4 km loop, every 30 minutes. Entry to Mangzhou is free without booking; this is not the reservation-only Erjingwan wetland park. Meet the car after lunch and return to the hotel by mid-afternoon.

    02

Guishan Island: a booked ferry day

Choose outward and return sailings from Xiangzhou Port through the operator before setting a start time; allow 45–60 minutes from Jida to the terminal, plus the operator’s check-in time. On Guishan, walk from the pier along Guishan Avenue toward Wen Tianxiang Square, then return to the harbour for lunch. Allow 60–90 minutes for this short waterfront walk rather than a full-island circuit. Return to the pier before the booked check-in deadline and taxi back to the hotel after landing. If the operator cannot confirm your passport procedure or either sailing, use option A.

Recheck before travel

  • Recheck museum hours, coastal weather and any trail closure the day before.
  • Ferry status, port, identity-document rules and return sailing must be confirmed through the operator.
  • Drop Hengqin or the island when arrival or departure makes the third day incomplete.
