How do I get from the airport to my hotel?

Give yourself an address you can show someone.

Save a screenshot of the Chinese hotel name, street address, branch name, telephone number and booking confirmation. A translated brand name can point to several properties. Ask the hotel for the correct entrance or drop-off instructions if the booking map is unclear.

If you land after midnight, confirm the room is held for the date and time you will reach reception. Landing shortly after midnight and checking in later that afternoon are different bookings. Keep your original passport accessible for check-in, rather than packed at the bottom of a suitcase.

For an arranged pickup, agree on the flight number, terminal, meeting point, contact method, luggage capacity and what happens if the flight is delayed. An “airport hotel” may still require a drive; ask whether its shuttle serves your terminal and runs at your arrival time.

CAN to Guangzhou: choose by your hotel’s area.

At T2, follow Metro signs to Airport North (机场北) for Line 3. At T3, follow signs for the free Konggang 2 branch shuttle (空港2路支线) from the east coach station to Gaozeng (高增), then take Line 3 into Guangzhou. The shuttle is separate from the buses between airport terminals. Gaozeng’s boarding area changed on 1 October 2026; follow current signs rather than an old pickup screenshot.

The times below are our planning estimates from the metro entrance to a hotel within roughly a 10–15-minute walk of the named station. They include a modest allowance for waiting and transfers, but exclude immigration and baggage collection. From T3, allow another 20–35 minutes for reaching and taking the shuttle; queues can make this longer.

SZX to Shenzhen: Nanshan, Futian or Luohu?

Follow Metro signs through the Ground Transportation Centre (GTC) to Airport station (机场) on Line 11. Take the citybound direction via Nanshan and Futian, not toward Bitou. Airport East (机场东) and Airport North (机场北) are different stations; they are not the starting point for these routes from the passenger terminal.

These are planning estimates from entering Airport metro station to a hotel about 10–15 minutes from the destination station, including waiting and any transfer. Add the walk from arrivals to the metro, plus immigration and baggage collection. A hotel elsewhere in the same district can need another line or a car ride.

What will the ride cost, and when is a car easier?

Metro fares depend on the start and destination station. At the ticket machine or service counter, select the final station, including any transfer, and check the displayed RMB fare before paying. Shenzhen Line 11’s business-class carriages add a surcharge; choose an ordinary carriage for the standard fare. T3’s Gaozeng shuttle is currently free, but the onward metro journey is paid. Intercity rail uses a separate fare and ticketing system.

For a taxi, the total depends on your exact hotel, road traffic, the meter and any applicable tolls or night charges. A booked car shows its quote in the order; a hotel pickup should have an agreed total and waiting policy. Compare the whole-car price with rail tickets for everyone travelling, plus any final car ride from the station. There is no single airport-to-city taxi price that covers Tianhe, Pazhou, Nanshan and Luohu.

Choose a direct car if carrying the bags through transfers and the final walk would be difficult, or if the last connection has finished. Rail can be attractive for a daytime arrival beside a station, but taking the first airport train does not guarantee that the final line is still running. Confirm all connections after collecting your luggage. Holiday late-service extensions are date-specific; do not use them as a normal nightly timetable.

Where do I actually get in the car?

First match your terminal and the kind of car you are taking. Taxi signs lead to a queue; a booked car has a particular pickup area in your order. Check the floor as well as the door or parking-building number, and follow any updated signs on the day.

  Follow the long-distance or short-distance taxi signs through the east or west sides of the Ground Transportation Centre (GTC). App-booked cars use P8, levels 2 and 3; confirm your exact pickup level in the order.

If it is late, decide after baggage collection.

Your flight’s landing time is not the time you will reach a platform. Immigration, bags, walking and finding the right exit can change the choice. If you cannot confirm the entire rail journey is still possible, use the official taxi area or contact your arranged pickup.

If your hotel is in another city, check that journey separately. A flight to Guangzhou is not an arrival in central Shenzhen, and a late bus mentioned in a travel post may no longer run. If you decide to stay near the airport, confirm an actual room and a way to reach it before setting off.

Let reception know if you will arrive later than agreed. Keep enough battery for the address, payment and communication. If connectivity fails, show the saved address at the airport information desk and ask for the correct taxi queue.
