Baomo Garden & Shawan: a Panyu day trip

Spend a full day in Panyu: visit Baomo Garden first, have lunch in Shawan, then walk the old-town lanes before returning to central Guangzhou.

Timings include walking, transfers, waiting, wayfinding, meals and about 20% buffer.

Baomo Garden is in Zini Village; Shawan Ancient Town is a separate stop across local roads. This version visits the garden first, has lunch in Shawan, then returns through Shiqiao metro.

Arrange the two local car legs before travelling: Shiqiao → Baomo Garden, then Baomo Garden → Shawan west visitor centre. If you want to use bus 67 instead, check that day’s stops, direction and final return before committing to both sites.

    Leave central Guangzhou

    Take Line 3 to Shiqiao and meet the booked car at an agreed street-level pickup. Use 宝墨园 as the destination in Zini Village. The train and road legs vary by hotel, so 09:15 is a target, not a guaranteed arrival.

    Baomo Garden

    Give the garden, water, architecture and collections about two and a half hours.

    Local road transfer

    Ask the car to take you to 沙湾古镇西门游客中心, 10 Daxiangyong Road. Agree the pickup before entering Baomo Garden; this is a drive between two attractions, not a 35-minute guaranteed transfer.

    Lunch in Shawan

    Keep a full seated meal before walking the old town in the afternoon.

    Shawan Ancient Town

    From the west visitor centre, use the signed streets towards Liugeng Hall and the old-town lanes, returning to the same visitor centre. Ticketed halls may have shorter hours than the public streets; choose the halls at the ticket desk.

    Return to central Guangzhou

    Meet the booked car at the west visitor centre and return to Shiqiao metro. If the morning ran late, shorten the Shawan walk or visit only one site; leave the evening free for the journey and dinner.

Recheck before travel

  • Recheck both sites' live opening and ticket arrangements before leaving the hotel.
  • Do not append a dense central-city evening; delays in Panyu should consume the buffer, not the return meal.
  • In extreme heat or heavy rain, visit one site deeply instead of rushing both.
