Old streets first, then the museum and river
Begin with Xiguan, add the old-city axis, then give the third day to the new central axis. Treat a mountain or Panyu day as a full alternative—not an extra layer.
Timings include walking, transfers, waiting, wayfinding, meals and about 20% buffer.
Classic first visit · Xiguan, the old-city axis and the new Pearl River axis
With one day, follow the western old-city walk from Chen Clan Hall to Shamian. A second day adds the Nanyue royal tomb and Beijing Road; a third leaves time for Guangdong Museum and the river beside Zhujiang New Town.
Use the same Liwan or Yuexiu hotel throughout and leave luggage there. Each day ends near a metro station, so you can return without walking the entire route backwards.

DAY 1
Have morning tea, visit Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, then take a taxi to Lychee Bay before walking through Enning Road to Shamian.
Why this order?Chen Clan Ancestral Hall and Lychee Bay need a separate transfer. After that, Enning Road and Shamian make a manageable afternoon, with time to stop for food and shade.
DAY 2
See the Nanyue royal tomb in the morning, choose Yuexiu Park or Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and spend the evening around Beijing Road.
Why this order?The tomb site is on Jiefang North Road. After lunch, choose either Yuexiu Park nearby or the memorial hall farther south; leave enough time for dinner on Beijing Road.
DAY 3
Visit Guangdong Museum with a confirmed booking, rest after lunch, and walk Huacheng Square towards the Pearl River before sunset.
Why this order?Keep this day in Zhujiang New Town. You can see Canton Tower across the river without crossing a bridge; an optional tower visit needs its own ticket and Metro journey.
